Do you own a pet? Or know someone who does? Maybe a cat, a dog, or even a frog? If so, get ready because it’s National Pet Day! Here are some fun ways to celebrate with your pet.
Enjoy the Outdoors.
Go for a walk, enjoy a picnic or enjoy the outside air. If you have a dog, there are many dog parks to visit in Michigan,
Pioneer Park in Shelby Township,
Delia Park in Sterling Heights,
Red Oaks Dog Park in Madison Heights,
Watch Movies & TV Shows Together.
Get cozy and watch their favorite films or shows your pet enjoys. My dog loves videos of other dogs swimming in pools.
Toys and Treats, Oh My! A new toy or treat can help stimulate your pet's brain and keep them active. You could even make getting a new treat a fun trip for you and your pet. Bring your pet with you to your favorite pet store or try a new local store. Or, get their brains going with a homemade toy such as an obstacle course.
Learn some new tricks with your pet, even if it’s just working on diminishing their habits like jumping or biting. Try teaching your dog/cat how to roll over or instructing your bird how to talk. Throughout the process, make sure to reward them with food or treats.
Take A Nap & Relax.
After a busy day, take a nap and relax with your pet. Pets love spending time with their person. Plus, it is a great way to reduce stress.
Adopt a Pet.
Adopting a pet and welcoming it into your family is a great way to celebrate National Pet Day! This is a decision that may take time, but it will surely change an animal’s life. Some adoption services in Michigan include: Michigan Humane Society, Pet Adoption Alternative of Warren, Friends for Animals of Metro Detroit, and Royal Oak Animal Shelter.
Share Their Favorite Snacks.
Celebrate your pet by giving them their favorite treat! There are many local pet bakeries that will have all your pet desires and more available on National Pet Day. If you have a reptile or feathered friend, a local pet store is sure to have their favorite food on hand.
These are all fun things to do during National Pet Day with your furry friends! You can even come up with your own ideas on how to spend the day with your friend. Make sure to have fun and share your photos from National Pet Day with us on social media! Happy National Pet Day from Christian Financial Credit Union.
