What happens if I forget to upload a check in the file?

If a check is presented that does not match your submitted file, we will flag it as an exception. You will be notified to review the item and decide whether to pay or return it. If you realize a check was missed, you can use the “manual entry” option in your online banking to add it after the initial file submission.

What if a check is written after the file is submitted?

You do not need to wait for the next day’s file. You can typically submit a new, updated file, or use an “Add Check” or “Uploaded Checks” feature within the online banking portal to securely add individual checks or a series of checks in real-time.

What is the deadline for reviewing exception items?

Deadlines for processing are strict. Decisions must be made by 12 PM EST. If you do not act on an exception by the cutoff time, the default rule will automatically be applied—CFCU defaults to “Pay” all exception items.

How do I handle an ACH exception?

Exceptions are flagged in your online banking portal, where you must decide to “Pay” or “Return” the item by the daily deadline of 12 PM EST. If no action is taken, CFCU will follow a default setting to “Pay”.

How do I prevent legitimate vendors from being flagged every time?

expand accordion toggle

You can create ACH Decision Rules to automate the desired decision based on transaction conditions. By providing the vendor’s Company ID, you can set parameters such as:

  • Maximum Dollar Amount: Automatically pay any amount up to a specific limit.
  • Frequency: Authorize debits only on certain schedules (e.g., monthly).
  • Expiration Date: Set a timeframe for how long the vendor is authorized to debit your account.

What happens if I don't set up decision rules?

If no decision rules are established, all incoming ACH debits may be flagged as exceptions, requiring daily manual review.
